For the Introduction to Blended and Online Education Module, I intend to submit a project based on the development of either 1 or a number of units within a Module on Interactivity. This will include a personal blog on the unit development, using a wiki to develop the content and instruction, setting up the online elements of the module to go live in Trimester 2 (I would assume it will be possible to allow you/markers access to the module as part of the submission?). I will be negotiating with the Module Leader to change the current evaluation tools to incorporate ‘thought discussions’, which will require the development of a rubric to ensure that students on the module engage in the process online, in support of their face to face activity and their own project development.
Interactivity as a subject area for our students is taught to both Screenwriters and Producers. It involves a number of elements including Project Development and Games Design, Cross Platform Production, Alternative Business Models and developing marketing strategies including 360° strategic project development. The elements I will be teaching are tech-heavy and require the students to utilise the internet and develop their understanding of Web 2.0 technology and the internet.
I have proposed a number of units for developing discreet elements for this module, including 'Growing your Audience', 'Using Secondlife to develop Story and Narrative', 'Peer to Peer - Alternative Distribution' and 'Cross Platform development - the mobile Documentary. Using mobile phones to build micro projects.' Subject to discussion with the Module Leader, any or all of these elements will be developed.
Further discussion and guidance is needed for me to determine how much I should do for the purpose of the individual project, however I would suggest that given the nature of the tasks that students will be expected to undertake, I would really want to focus on 1 unit at this stage.
